The total number of children treated during this period was 128, the
total cost to this Committee being £168 15s. 0d., making an average per case
of £1 7s. 5d.
The absentees in Class B are those who left attending before the doctor
in charge regarded the case as satisfactory: it is very unsatisfactory that out
of 128 patients sent to the Hospital for special treatment and paid for by the
Council, that such a large proportion as 78 should discontinue treatment
contrary to advice.
It is likely that in some of the cases an excellent reason would be forthcoming
to explain the non-attendance, but it is doubtful whether such a remark
is applicable to the large majority.
