The Census of 1911 gave the number of uninhabited houses as 846; inhabited
as 12,516, and this latter figure, with a population of 64,797, give the average
number of persons per house as 5.2.
Number of Inhabited Houses.—The Overseer has kindly given me the following returns:—

Number of Families or Separate Occupiers.—I am unable to give
further particulars than those already given in the two previous paragraphs.
It will be noted that according to the figures given, that 27 per cent. of the
houses infected had two families, and that 5 per cent. had three families.
New houses in the district are badly needed.
