47 samples of milk have been taken at various times and
sent to the laboratory at Mill End Hospital for bacteriological
examination. These were considered to be satisfactory with the
exception of two samples, and appropriate action was taken in
the case of both samples.
MEAT INSPECTION.
The requirements of the Public Health (Meat) Regulations
1924, have been duly observed as regards the slaughterhouses
and butchers' shops in the district. Notices of slaughtering
have been given as required by the regulations and these have
been followed up in every case by visits to the slaughterhouses,
the carcases examined and all diseased or unsound meat condemned.
The butchers' shops and implements have been
maintained in a cleanly condition with the exception of a shop
in Brunswick Park Road. In this case a verbal warning to the
occupier was sufficient to effect the required improvement and
no further action was necessary.
Meat Marking.
No carcases were stamped during the year as no requests
for marking were received.
