(a) Housing Act 1957, Section 90 - which is used to
abate overcrowding when the "permitted number"
for a house or part of a house in multiple occupation
is exceeded.

certain facilities, and if these are not available

facilities required include ventilation, water supply,
sanitary conveniences, washing facilities, preparation
and storage of food.
(d) Housing Act 1961, Section 16 - improvements in the
means of escape from fire are required in accordance
with the code of practice laid down by the Greater
