*Training Nurseries.
During the year 236 new admissions were made to day nurseries of which 9 were
handicapped children.
The new Hanbury Day Nursery which replaces Bollo Bridge Day Nursery received
children from 12 January 1970 and was formally opened by the Mayor on 3 June 1970.
This is a purpose-built single-storey fifty-place nursery. There has been favourable
comment in the Architectural Press and the Department of Health and Social Security are
making use of it as a place for visitors who wish to keep up with the developments in
this field. The staff find the new nursery a very satisfactory place to work in and
altogether it seems to be a successful project.
Building commenced during the year on a further Day Nursery which is situated in
Hambrough Road, Southall.
