MEASUREMENT OF AIR POLLUTION
Daily volumetric instruments for measuring smoke and sulphur dioxide in the air
and deposit gauges for monitoring local emissions were maintained in operation during
the year.
The overall figures for the daily volumetric instruments show an average increase
compared with last year of 10% in the amount of smoke and of 3% in the amount of
sulphur dioxide in the air.
The deposit gauge figures show an overall 36% reduction in airborne particles.
