18th August, 1965
Mr. Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors,
The last report of the Medical Officer of Health of a Borough such as Ealing
must inevitably contain a note of regret. I do not think it is an over-statement that
in the public health field Ealing has been amongst the leaders, both in the quality
of its service and in its willingness to pioneer new projects. I am confident that
these past achievements will form a sound foundation for the health department of
the London Borough and will exert an influence for a long time to come.
Any regret is tempered by the realization of the opportunities that re-organization
will present to local health services. I trust full advantage will be taken of them.
In conclusion I would like to record my thanks to the past and present members
of the Public Health Committee, and to the staff of the Public Health Department.
I do this not as a formality but to express my sincere appreciation for the help I
have received.
Your obedient servant,
I H. SEPPELT,
Medical Officer of Health.
