Smoke Control Orders Nos. 16 and 17 which were made by the Council in 1963 were
confirmed by the Minister and came into operation on 1st September and 1st
November, 1964. Survey work on areas Nos. 21 and 22 had been commenced before
the end of the year and preliminary arrangements were also in hand for dealing with
area No. 23.
The following map and tables give details of the progress of the Council's programme by the end of 1964:—
