Tea.
On the 1st January, 1959, the responsibility for
sampling imported tea for adulteration and unfitness was
transferred to the Local Authority from H.M. Customs and
Excise. In the Borough is a large tea-packing factory and
bonded warehouse to which some 2,000 cases of tea are
brought direct each week.
During the year 263 samples of tea were taken from
this factory. 24 of them were sent to the Public Analyst,
