In addition, two lectures on the Hygiene of Milk Processing
were arranged for local milk distributors.
The first lecture in each series is given by a prominent
bacteriologist, the second by the Deputy Medical Officer of Health
and Nos. 3, 4 and 5 by three of the District Sanitary Inspectors.
Lectures 3 and 4 are illustrated by film strips. Each person
completing the course is supplied with a Certificate of Attendance
signed by the Medical Officer of Health.
71 Local food traders enrolled for the first series which
commenced in December and at the close of the year, we had a
sufficient number of food traders on our waiting list to justify the
holding of lectures throughout the winter months.
I am confident that the education of food trade employees in
clean food handling is of the utmost importance if the Council's
Food Hygiene campaign is to be successful, and it is encouraging
to report such a good start in this direction.
