INFECTIOUS DISEASE.
Infectious Disease.—The number of cases of infectious
disease notified in the Borough in the past twelve years are indicated
below. The total number of cases notified in 1938 shows an
increase over the preceding year, this being largely due to a higher
incidence of scarlet fever. The comparatively high number of
cases of puerperal pyrexia is due to all cases occurring in the new
Maternity Hospital at Perivale being assigned to this area, whereas
when the maternity hospital was situated in Clayponas Lane all
the cases were assigned to the Borough of Brentford & Chiswick.
