The 543 cases admitted to the Hospital during the period under review came from the two districts as follows :—

The greatest number of patients in the hospital on any one
day was 34. The average period which each patient spent in the
hospital was 15.28 days.
Emergency Cases.—Seven emergency cases were admitted
during the year. These cases, which were all seen previously to
admission by Dr. J. W. Bell, were as follows :—
(1) Placenta praevia on which Caesarian Section was
performed.
(2) Suspected disproportion, which resulted in unassisted
delivery.
(3) Slight disproportion. Forceps used.
(4) Primary uterine inertia. Forceps used.
(5) Suspected disproportion. Forceps used.
(6) Admitted for observation for two days. Not in labour.
(7) Primary uterine inertia. Forceps used followed by
manual removal of adherent placenta.
