the Maternity and Child Welfare Committee. Last year the cost
of the five sessions including extra days for the two part-time
officers, was £406 15s. Od. A whole-time dentist can be obtained
at the minimum salary of £500, so it is quite apparent that there will
be a great financial advantage in having a whole-time officer
capable of giving ten sessions a week to the work instead of extending
the sessions of part-time officers whose remuneration is at the
rate of £75 per session per annum.
"Clerical Staff.-On the occasion of the transfer of officers
on the 1st October, Miss Rivers, who was formerly typist and clerical
assistant to the Clerk of the Hanwell Urban District Council, was
assigned to my department to perform duties connected with school
medical and maternity and child welfare work. At the end of this
month she will go to the Mattock Lane School Clinic and Wclfaie
Centre for experience of both classes of work, and will later take up
her duties at the Cherington Road Clinic and Welfare Centre,
half of her time being devoted to school medical and half to
maternity and child welfare work, her salary being paid in equal
proportions by the Education Committee and Maternity and Child
Welfare Committee.
