Town Hall,
Ealing, W.5.
23rd June, 1927.
To the Education Committee.
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to submit my annual report on the health of
the school children and on the work of the School Medical Department
for the past year.
The report deals almost entirely with the work in the schools
in the area of the Borough previous to the extension on the 1st
October, because it was not found possible, before the end of the
year, to extend the whole of the scheme of school medical inspection
and treatment to the schools in Hanwell and Greenford. An attempt,
however, was made to meet the most urgent needs of the children in
the added schools by opening temporary School Clinics at Hanwell
and Greenford, and the extent of the work carried out at these
clinics from the 1st October to the 31st December is recorded in tables
which are appended to this report.
Your approval of the recommendations contained in the Special
Report on the extension of school medical work to the added areas
has been followed by the appointment of the new members of the
staff, the reorganisation of the work and the opening of the permanent
School Clinic at Cherington House, so that at the present date the
scheme of medical inspection and treatment is in full operation in
the whole area,
In presenting this report I wish to take the opportunity of
expressing my appreciation of the excellent work performed by
Dr. Ellis, the Assistant School Medical Officer.
I am, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
