In addition ten samples were examined for the bacillus of
tuberculosis. Eight of these were of pasteurised and two were
of raw milk. The result was negative in all samples.
(b)Meat, etc.—There have been no infringements of the
Public Health (Meat) Regulations. All the shop fronts have been
provided with glass protection and there seems to be a general desire
on the part of the butchers to carry out the requirements of the
Regulations. Meat is not sold on stalls or on vehicles in the
Borough.
There is no public slaughterhouse, but in the whole of the
enlarged Borough there are seven private slaughterhouses. Very
little slaughtering is done in these. In twelve months in the whole
of the slaughterhouses there were killed 25 cattle, 275 sheep, 549
