There is little ground for complaint regarding the notification
of cases of tuberculosis by medical men in the district. On the
few occasions on which there has been omission to notify, a letter
reminding the medical attendant of his responsibilities has been
considered sufficient. During the year only two of the deaths
from tuberculosis were of patients not in the Register of Notifications
previous to the fatal issue.
Other Infectious Diseases.—In Table VI is given the
number of all forms of infectious disease and the ages at which
they occurred.
Attention may be directed to the 47 cases of primary pneumonia
and 27 of influenzal pneumonia, to the three cases of acute
poliomyelitis and six of encephalitis lethargica. In two of the
last named the diagnosis was very much in doubt.
