INSPECTION OF MEAT AND OTHER FOODS.
The year has been a difficult one in so far as the inspection
of meat and other foods have been concerned, due almost entirely
to the unusual conditions occasioned by the war. Owing to delays
in transport as well as to the insufficiency of cold storage, much
meat and fish had to be condemned as unfit for human food. Assistance
was given to the Food Control Committee by the Chief
Inspector in dealing with meat of bad keeping quality, which
during the early days of the year was delivered to the butchers
in the town. The Chief Inspector was able to advise when rapid
sale was necessary in order to avoid waste.
