There was some reduction in the number of deaths due to cancer of other parts of
the body, so that the total number of deaths from cancer was slightly less than
in 1963 .
Deaths due to bronchitis have reverted to their normal level after the high
figure of 111 recorded last year (an increase which was associated with severe
winter weather).
There were no maternal deaths in 1964
The adjusted death rate was 12.6 per 1,000 of the population, compared with
11.3 per 1,000 for England and Wales.
