Vaccination against Smallpox

During the year 1,320 persons were vaccinated or re-vaccinated by general practitioners and local health authority medical officers.

Whooping Cough

1,627 children received immunising doses against whooping cough, including booster doses.

B.C.G.
B.C.G. vaccination has continued in the 13-plus age group; this year 2,600 children
were offered vaccination. 1,569 children were tested after the parents' consent had
been received.
Results of the multiple puncture tests:—
Negative 1,475 Positive 71
Of the children with negative reactions (and therefore susceptible) 1,438 received
B.C.G. vaccination. There were no cases of post-vaccination complications.
DIPHTHERIA IMMUNISATION
Diphtheria Immunisation of under Fives
Diphtheria immunisation has continued in the infant welfare clinics and by the
general practitioners.
The following is a summary of the work carried out during the year by medical
officers and general practitioners. A total of 2,067 children received primary immunisation
injections and a total of 2,393 received boosting doses.
