Although no serious infestation was encountered during the year, there was a slight
increase in the number of complaints received in respect of infestations of rats and
mice; these occurred mainly in private dwellings.
RIDING ESTABLISHMENTS ACT, 1939
There are two riding establishments in the Borough; these are inspected annually
by the Council's veterinary surgeon. Conditions have been found to be satisfactory.
THE DISEASES OF ANIMALS (WASTE FOODS) ORDER, 1957
Legal proceedings were instituted in respect of a piggery where waste food fed to
pigs was inadequately cooked on unlicensed equipment. A fine of £15 was imposed
together with £5. 5. o. costs.
