with normal speech after treatment that ranged from a few weeks to several years. Most
patients are treated for one half-hour weekly, but several who are under observation only
do not attend so frequently.
A recent innovation is the provision of treatment during school holidays. This was
started in September 1957, and although attendances for this purpose have been poor it
is hoped that they will improve in the future.
The need for co-operation and perseverance on the part of the parents cannot be
too strongly emphasised. Almost invariably a helpful attitude reduces the length of
treatment required.
