It will be seen from the figures given below that the total acceptors since the commencement
of the scheme has doubled and the total complete courses since the commencement
of the scheme has tripled. During the year a total of 9,288 courses were
completed.
There were 3 cases of poliomyelitis notified to the department in 1958, all of which
were paralytic. There were 2 males aged 16 and 53 and 1 female of 32 who unfortunately
died.
