Group II discussed 'milestones' in the infant, 0—2 years and 2—5 years, and how
this subject could be presented to a group of actual and prospective parents. Criticism
by the audience inferred that general infant welfare had been over stressed at the expense
of development which was the subject in hand.
Group III gave an excellent demonstration of how to plan a film strip in 13 frames
entitled, "To Pot or Not," illustrating by sketches the photographs they would take.
Criticisms were few but it was suggested that the strip could have been done in 12
frames instead of 13.
Group IV presented a talk on the care of the hands to girls of 14—16 years of age
at school and youth clubs. The subject was well chosen and it was felt would appeal to
the teenage girls' desire to appear attractive. The speaker stressed, among other things,
the dangers of infection of the hands. It was suggested that the girls could do a lot by
influencing their boy friends to get them to care for their hands.
Group V presented the "Never Wallop Health Centre Mothers' Club," which had
a panel discussion with a chairman. There was some criticism of the absence of buildup
of the members of the panel by the chairman, which, it was said, was important in
making the panel feel good and putting them at ease.
At the conclusion of the course, Alderman Mrs. A. E. Prendergast thanked the
Central Council for Health Education and the Essex County Council for having arranged
the course, and Mr. Rowntree for his help, and said how interesting it had been to her
to sit in on some of the discussions.
