INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD
Clean Food Campaign

The numbers and types of food premises in the Borough are as follows;—

All food premises are regularly inspected and during the year
3,848 visits were paid. In addition to numerous requests and
suggestions during these routine visits, 49 informal notices were
served upon owners or occupiers.
In addition 200 inspections of itinerant vendors were carried
out; much of this work is done at the weekends.
The number of premises registered under Section 14, apart
from those in respect of ice cream, is as follows:—
Out of a total of 59 butchers' premises 40 are registered
for the preparation or manufacture of sausages or potted,
pressed, pickled or preserved food. To these, 825 visits
were paid.
Out of a total of 29 fish shops 21 are registered for fish
frying. To these 396 visits were paid.
Lectures have been given to members of local organisations.
With the co-operation of the County Council a stand was erected
at the Dagenham Town Show. There was a record attendance
during the two days of the show.
