In addition 28 samples of ice lollies were submitted for examination;
five were unsatisfactory. In each case the lollies were
manufactured outside the Borough. The local authorities concerned
were notified.
Food Poisoning Outbreaks
During the year 8 cases of food poisoning were notified; in only
2 single cases were the causative organisms identified.
It will be interesting to see what effect de-rationing of meat
has on the incidence of food poisoning. The expected reduction of
made-up meat dishes, which are common causes of alimentary
infections, gives hope for a diminished incidence of this condition.
