Unsound Food
A considerable number of articles of food continued to be brought to
the department. These included a variety of foreign substances in bread, a
bird's wing in cake and a bolt in butter.
There were two successful prosecutions. Warning letters were sent
in other cases.
Clean Food Campaign
Lectures were given by the Medical Officer of Health and Chief
Sanitary Inspector to food handlers working in the Borough. Arrangements
were made for the assistants to attend in the employers' time ; there was a
good response.
It is hoped to arrange a further series of lectures to include the
members of various local organisations, especially those attended by
women.
Food Poisoning Outbreaks
During the year 12 cases of food poisoning were notified; these
covered three small outbreaks. In no case was the causative organism
identified.
