Deaths.
During the year two children, aged 6 and 9 years, died from
Diphtheria, and in each case they had not received preventive treatment
against this disease.
Scarlet Fever.
The incidence of this disease fell from 376 to 205 with no fatal
cases. This should allay any fears that the somewhat revolutionary
control of scarlet fever, as referred to fully in my report for 1943, might
reverse the trend of this infection.
