DIPHTHERIA IMMUNISATION.
The following is a summary of the work carried out during the
year:—
Number of SCHOOL children immunised without
preliminary testing 2,269
Number of PRE-SCHOOL children immunised without
preliminary testing 1,588
Number of SCHOOL children re-Schick tested 53
Of these one was positive.
Number of PRE-SCHOOL children re-Schick tested 37
Of these three were positive.
Number of SCHOOL children who received one dose
after Re-Schick test positive 1
Number of PRE-SCHOOL children who received one
dose after Re-Schick test positive 3
Total number of children found to be immune during the year—86.

Scarlet Fever.
376 cases were notified, and of these 163 were admitted to hospital.
The disease still shows a very low level of virulence, complications are
rare and no deaths occurred. This subject is also dealt with in an
earlier part of the report.
