Scarlet Fever.
161 cases were notified, and of these 101 were
admitted to hospital. The disease still shows a very low
level of virulence, complications are rare and no deaths
occurred.
The tendency to treat Scarlet Fever at home is becoming
widespread, and there is evidence to support the
contention that domiciliary treatment of this disease contributes
to the lowering of the virulence, the explanation
be.ing that a large section of the population receives "subclinical"
infections which stimulate the production of
anti-bodies.
