GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES
FOR THE AREA.
Hospitals for General Cases.
Rush Green Isolation Hospital has been allocated to
some extent for the reception of general, medical and
surgical cases. A number of beds has also been earmarked
for the reception of air-raid casualties.
Oldchurch Hospital still takes the majority of general
cases from this Borough.
The activities of the Out-Patient Department of
King George Hospital have been severely restricted owing
to the fact that the greater part of the building is used
as a First Aid Post.
Hospitals for Maternity Cases.
The East End Maternity Hospital which formerly
accepted a large number of patients from Dagenham, has
been transferred to a safer area; a few patients still take
advantage of this Hospital, but the majority of uncomplicated
maternity cases are treated in their own homes.
Complicated maternity cases are admitted to Oldchurch
Hospital under an arrangement which has been in
operation since the City of London Maternity Hospital
was evacuated.
