SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA.
Water.
I am indebted to B. W. Bryan Esq., Engineer of
the South Essex Waterworks Company for the following
" The total length of new mains laid in the Borough
during the year 1940 was 122 yards of 6-inch main.
" The whole of the analytical reports for that year
showed the water to be pure and wholesome and suitable
for the purpose of a public supply.
" I may add that our new Stour Scheme came into
permanent use early in 1941, and it may be of interest
to know that the total number of samples analysed for
chemical, bacteriological and biological purposes is something
like 2,500 for the year."
