from the Infant Welfare Centres and all children are
seen by a Medical Officer every fortnight. A few
children of school age are referred by the School Medical
Officer, payment for which is made by the County
Education Committee to the Dagenham Corporation.
A course of treatment commences with a two
minutes exposure back and front, working up to a six
minutes double exposure, being 12 exposures in all.
The clinics close down from May to September.
227 children commenced treatment of whom 119
completed one course, 13 completed two courses and
one three courses.
Dental Treatment.
24 extraction sessions were held, at which 232
children were treated and 181 mothers, making a total
of 531 attendances. A charge is made for each case
(not per attendance), the amount depending upon the
financial circumstances of the family. The amount
received was £27. 15s. Od. and the nett cost of this
service was £38. Os. 2d.
Dentures are provided, usually only to those persons
referred from the ante-natal clinic. The amount
received as patients' contributions was £23. 16s. 0d.
leaving a sum of £75. 5s. 10d. as the cost to the Council.
Treatment of Minor Ailments.
By arrangement with the Education Committee,
children under school age in certain cases receive
treatment at the minor ailment clinics, this Council
being responsible for a per capita charge.
