At most of the centres ladies acting in an entirely
voluntary capacity attend the clinics for the purpose of
supplying teas. These services are very much valued
and add considerably to the harmony of the clinics.
Profits derived from the teas are paid in to the
Treasurer's Department and are applied in helping
necessitous cases whose needs are not catered for
otherwise. A considerable sum of money was paid in
by these ladies during the year. The thanks of those
concerned is once more extended to them.
The following table shows the work done at the
infant welfare centres:—
Total attendances at all centres during the year:—
(1) By children under one year of age 23,039
(2) By children between the ages of one
and five 18,909
Average attendances of children per session at
all centres during the year 68
Total number of children who attended at the
centres for the first time during the year:—
(1) Children under one year of age 1,729
(2) Children between the ages of one and
five 816
Percentage of total notified births represented
by the number of children under one year
who attended for the first time 91.82%
Treatment.
Adenoids and Enlarged Tonsils.
The same arrangements continue in operation for
the treatment of these conditions, namely, agreements
with the following hospitals:—King George Hospital,
Ilford ; Queen Mary's Hospital, Stratford; St. Mary s
