Pemphigus.
During the year, there were six notifications of
children suffering from Pemphigus, three of whom were
removed to hospital and the remainder treated at home.
Maternal Mortality.
Six deaths were registered as being due to pregnancy
or associated with that condition which is equivalent
to a maternal mortality rate of 2.95 per thousand total
births, compared with 3.11 for England and Wales.
The actual causes of death as stated on the certificates
were:—
Case 1.
a. Suppurative Pyelonephritis.
b. Hypostatic Pneumonia.
c. Pregnancy (Full term).
Case 2.
Shock following Parturition.
Case 3.
a. Heart failure.
b. Eclampsia.
c. Pregnancy.
Case 4.
Post Partum Haemorrhage.
Adherent Placenta.
Childbirth.
Case 5.
1. a. Myocardial Degeneration.
b. Caesarean section and Hysterectomy
done for Ante-Partum Haemorrhage due
to Macerated foetus.
2. Toxaemia of Pregnancy.
