The following table shows details of children who
attended for immunization and were subsequently
notified as suffering from Diphtheria, together with
observations as to the type and the ultimate result.
It will be seen that cases number 1 and 7 died from
Diphtheria. In case number 1 the child had received a
Schick test which proved Negative, but unfortunately
contracted what is known as the Gravis type which has
a high fatality.
In case number 7 we were not satisfied
that the test was Negative and arrangements had been
made to repeat the test, but the child was taken ill before
this could be carried out:—
