It was discovered that in a certain large factory
the sanitary arrangements did not comply with the
regulations. Action was taken by the Health Department
and the necessary alterations were made without
the necessity of serving a Statutory Notice.
In another large factory the sanitary accommodation
was found to be insufficient and unsuitable,
and here again the necessary work was carried out as
the result of an informal notice.
There were 83 premises in which outwork was
carried on. At 67 of these the work done was the
making up of wearing apparel. There was no outwork
in unwholesome premises.
Rats and Mice (Destruction) Act, 1919.
The same procedure operated during the year as
in the past in connection with rats and mice. Poisons
were supplied upon request and during Rat Week
posters were exhibited. A number of rat burrows was
treated with smoke by means of rockets with fair results.
In addition, 28 notices were served during the year,
16 of which were complied with.
