Social Conditions of Inhabitants.
Several new industries have commenced during
1935, amongst them being a textile factory. One of
the large engineering undertakings has extended its
premises. It would appear that manufacturers are
tending to establish works on the eastern side of
London and numerous enquiries are being received for
sites within the Urban District.
As in previous years, the building industry has
continued to be active, and many houses are still being
erected by private contractors, also the London County
Council is building on various sites within the Dagenham
section of the Becontree Estate.
The Dagenham and Becontree Personal Service
Council continues to operate with a considerable degree
of success and works in close co-operation with the
members of the Council and the officials.
