4. Links with the Training Officer - Taberner House.
Regular events are the lectures to new entrants and new senior officers
to Local Government on the "Local Authority Health Services seen in the
context of the National Health Service", and co-operation in the running of
First Aid courses in the Section for local Government staff.
5. Other Links and Activities.
Public Health Inspectors have again played an important part in the
education of the public, nurses and school children in all aspects of
environmental health and their help is greatly appreciated.
The theme of the exhibition held in the 40' marquee at the Ashburton
Flower Show was "Gambling with Health?" and as usual all stands were
devised to encourage the maximum participation of the public.
Advice and some help was given to the Central Office of Information
on the making of a short film on "Smoking" for overseas distribution.
The Principal Health Education Officer was also a member ofthe Royal
College of Nursing Working Party discussing the future role of the Health
Visitor, the report of which was published in September.
Future changes will transform the nature of the Health Education
Section's work but the staff will see these changes as opportunities for
co-operative and questing endeavours in which all are involved.
