4. Medical
Speech Therapy, a vital aspect in the education of many pupils at the
School, has continued most effectively through Mrs. J. Robertson and
Mrs. I. Siddons.
The excellent relationship which exists between School and the Principal
School Medical Officer's Department have continued and are manifest in
the invaluable contribution to the total life of the School which is made
by the School's Medical Officer.
We are indebted to the staffs of both Medical and Educational Departments
for their ever willing co-operation in matters relating to the
benefit of the pupils of St. Christopher's.
St. Nicholas Special School for Educationally Subnormal Children
I am grateful for the first report on St. Nicholas School which has been
supplied by the Head Master, Mr. D.A. Bartram.
The number of children admitted to the school during the year was 164, their age groupings as follows:-

The average age of entry to the school varied throughout the year, but
the peak age was about - 10 years with some children continuing to be admitted
up to the age of thirteen or fourteen. These figures pointed to the
urgent need for earlier ascertainment of children for Special Educational
