It was a difficult year for all health departments. The impact of Social
Service Act changes was felt least by the School Health Section, but impending
re-organisation of the National Health Service without a decision
on the future control or function of the School Health Service was disturbing.
Nevertheless routine duties were fully discharged, and improvements discussed
at training sessions and implemented. There was a fundamental
conviction that the service remained dynamic and essential and would
continue with very minimal changes.
My thanks are due to the Chief Education Officer and other members of
his department, and to Head Teachers and their staffs for help and co-operation
at all times, and to the Education Committee for continued interest,
encouragement and sustained support.
Yours faithfully,
S.L. WRIGHT,
Principal School Medical Officer.
