ST LUKE'S SCHOOL FOR THE PARTIALLY SIGHTED
Miss Rundle, the Headmistress, reports that during 1963 there were
no major changes in the organisation and curriculum of the school.
Increased emphasis has been made on the necessity of helping our
visually handicapped pupils to become more independent. The co-operation
of the parents is constantly sought to help the children to become
self-reliant.
The parents were invited to the school each term to maintain
contact with them and to provide an opportunity to discuss their
children's progress.
Each term the children visited places of interest. For the first
time the school was invited to take part in the London Inter-School
Sports for Partially Sighted Shildren. This was a welcome opportunity
for the children to meet and compete with others similarly handicapped,
Another revolving blackboard has been added to the school equipment.
This addition is proving very valuable. Two anglepoise lamps have
also been provided - these help the more severely handicapped on dull
days.
During the year a routine medical and a dental examination was
held. The ophthalmologist also carried out an examination at the
school.
