incisor teeth. The index of fillings inserted per 100 children rose
slightly from 106.9 to 107.3 but still leaves much to he desired
from the point of view of an adequate Service.
Time spent on "casual" work continues to be high and in
spite of recent advances still seriously handicaps the carrying out
of routine treatment. An associated problem is that of coping
with numerous enquiries from parents for advice on their
offsprings' current dental problems. As previously reported it
is felt that these routine contacts with parents are in the main
beneficial, and that to ignore such requests would be to deny an
essential function of the Service.
