At the primary inspections vermin were found in 41 and nits
alone in 708 children. On these inspections 1.8 per cent. of the
children showed evidence of infestation as against 1.1 in 1952.
57 children attended the Cleansing Station for treatment.

tuberculosis incident rate per 100,000 was 28.0, and the nonpulmonary
incidence rate 8.4. There were no deaths from
tuberculosis.
