JUVENILE EMPLOYMENT RETURN.
The following numbers of children were examined by the
medical officers during 1949 as to their fitness to following the
part-time employment indicated : —

THE PROVISION OF MEALS AND MILK AND COD LIVER
OIL AND MALT.
During 1949 all milk was supplied free of charge, and
approximately 23,000 children per day received 1/3rd pint each.
This was equal to 93 per cent. of the children attending schools.
All the milk supplied is pasteurised milk, and the sources
of supply are subject to the approval and constant supervision
of the Medical Officer of Health.
The number of meals supplied daily during 1949 was
approximately 17,000.
