DIPHTHERIA.
92 cases were treated with a diagnosis of diphtheria, an
increase of 48 on 1944. Of these 14 were found not to be cases
of diphtheria and 17 were cases of positive swabs without clinical
symptoms, leaving 61 cases of true diphtheria.
There were 4 deaths amongst them, one occurring in a ease
which had not been immunized.
There were two laryngeal cases and one nasal diphtheria, the
rest being cases of the faucial type.
The following complications and sequelae occurred amongst
the diphtheria cases:—
Rhinorrhoea 1
Paralysis: Palatal 3
Eyes 1
Cardiac failure 3
Adenitis 3
Secondary sore throat 2
Albuminuria 2
The 14 cases found not to be diphtheria were as follows:—
Tonsillitis 10
Vincent's angina 3
Scarlet fever 1
