The scheme for the diagnosis and treatment of Venereal
Diseases has functioned on the same lines, and particulars are
herewith given of the working of Regulation 33 B. It has not
proved to be of much value as a preventive measure, as the particulars
obtained are often too vague to enable the alleged source
of infection to be followed up. Where accurate information has
been given, the person named has, upon receipt of the confidential
letter from the Medical Officer of Health, usually obtained
treatment. It is curious that in the vast majority of cases men
inform upon women.
The following figures give a summary of the results under
the Regulation during 1945:—
