Scarlet Fever was less prevalent than in 1938; the largest
incidence has been in Wood side, Vest Thornton, South Norwood,
and Addis combe .
The incidence rate of Diphtheria was 0.81 compared with
1.19- in 1938; lost cases occurred in Whitehorse Manor, Beusham
Manor, Thornton Heath and South Norwood Wards.
No cases of Small Pox occurred during the year.
There were 39 cases of Puerperal Pyrexia; 24 occurred in the
age group 16-25 year and 15 in the age group 26-45 years.
A majority of the cases occurred in women having their first
confinement.
