Cases X-Rayed.
Cases referred to Mayday Hospital numbered 84 as compared
with 50 in 1936. Children can be referred to the hospital on certain
days only, and consequently many cases in which immediate X-Ray
was required have not been referred. The cases X-Rayed included
those suffering from traumatic injuries of incisor teeth, those who
had undergone root canal treatments and in other cases for obtaining
the relative positions of the roots of teeth before orthodontic treatment.
It would be of great assistance to the dental officers if a
dental X-Ray apparatus was installed at the Lodge Road Treatment
Centre.
The Treatment of Scholarship Children.

Scholarship children are treated at all the clinics and the following is a summary of the work.

The majority of the children require a large amount of work
to be done and many attendances are necessary to complete the
treatment.
The incidence of dental disease in the children examined is very
high, and it would appear from experience gained in the treatment
of scholarship children that it is eminently desirable that opportunities
for inspection and children, if required, should be provided for
all pupils attending secondary schools. In many instances the
teeth of the scholarship children were found to be much worse than
those of children attending the public elementary schools.
Dental Propaganda.
The Dental Board of the United Kingdom kindly sent a demonstrator
to visit some of the schools and give a talk to the children.
The demonstrations and talks were given to approximately 3,000
children attending the senior schools. The following schools were
visited, viz., Waddon Senior Mixed, Croydon British Senior Girls,
Parish Church Boys, Purley Oaks Senior Mixed, St. Andrew's
Senior Mixed, Davidson Senior Bovs and Senior Girls, Portland
Senior Boys and Senior Girls, Whitehorse Manor Senior Boys,
Lanfranc Senior Boys and Senior Girls, and St. Michael's Girls.
