The Croydon Branch of the British Social Hygiene Council,
towards the expenses of which the Council give a grant of £50
annually, carried out the following programme during the year.
For these details I am indebted to the Hon. Secretary, Mrs. D.
G. Frankish : —
Meetings for the Winter Session began on October 4th with
one for the general public, held at the Central Library, and
addressed by Dr. Blackbill-Jefferies.
Then followed a series of 3 lectures for young men on
" Preparation for Marriage," given by Dr. Drummond Shiels. A
series of 3 lectures for young women on the same subject was
given by Dr. Dancy and Dr. Grace Culver. Both these series of
talks were held in the Horniman Hall and were well attended.
The session terminated with a lecture by Dr. Edward Griffith,
for the general public, on " Sex and Human Relationships."
This was held in the Large Public Hall, and the attendance was
calculated as over 500 people.
At all the lectures free literature was distributed and selected
publications sold.
