Types of Cases Treated.
In Class T.B. Minus, 11 males, 8 females, and 7 children
were discharged with the disease in a quiescent condition, i.e., 52%
of the total cases in this class ; 8 males, 9 females and '2 children
were not in a quiescent condition, 38% ; 2 males and 3 females died,
10%.
In Class T.B. Plus, Croup I., the corresponding figures were
2 males and 1 child quiescent, 42.8% ; 3 males and 1 female not
quiescent, 57.1% ; there were no deaths in this group.
In Class T.B., Plus, Croup II., 6 males and 11 females
quiescent, 17.7% ; 39 males and 27 females not quiescent, 68.7%;
and 6 males and 7 females died, 13.5%.
In Class T.B., Plus, Croup III., or advanced group, 1 male
was discharged quiescent; 19 males, 11 females and 1 child not
quiescent, 56.3% ; and 15 males and 7 females and 1 child died,
41.8%.
Taking all groups together, 22.6% of cases were discharged as
quiescent; 57.7% as not quiescent; and 19.7% died.
An increase is recorded in the number but not in the percentage
of infectious cases dying in institutions. 45.4% of the deaths
occurred in institutions.
Non-Pulmonary Tuberculosis.—19 patients were discharged
during the year, and 73.7% of these were quiescent.
